CM Khattak orders to award first, second packages of BRT Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has ordered to award the first and second packages of the Bus Rapid Transit Peshawar to the contractors who qualified in the bidding and fulfilled all the legal formalities required in the whole process in order to put on ground the construction and implementation process of the all time mega project of the province in Peshawar.
While presiding over a high level meeting which held to review the pace of work on Bus Rapid Transit Peshawar at Chief Minister Secretariat, here on Wednesday, he also directed the officers concerned to finalize all matters related to the Bus Rapid Transit Peshawar project.
His government could not afford any delay in the construction work and timely completion of the project, he categorically stated.
Pervez Khattak asked the concerned quarters to handover the two packages to the qualified contractors in order to start practical work on the project.
He said that the government has already given its recommendations and there should be no wastage of time adding that the respective contractors were bound to work as per guarantees.
Chief Minister said that Bus Rapid Transit Peshawar was the most important project for the Peshawar city and it has undeniable utility therefore the project would have to be completed with accelerated speed. This project, he added was one solution to all traffic problems in Peshawar City.
This project should not only be seen as the best commuting facilities but would give jobs to the jobless and would compensate the affected persons as well. This project was one part of the overall beautification of Peshawar city, said CM.
Provincial Minister Muhammad Atif Khan, Acting Chief Secretary Azam Khan, Head of Strategic Support Unit Sahibzada Saeed, Commissioner Peshawar and high ranking officials of Transport Department, PDA, District Administration and Asian Development Wing attended the meeting.
