ISLAMABAD: The government has postponed the approval of the FATA Rewaj Bill and 30th Constitutional Amendment for approval of the FATA reforms after JUI-F chief’s contact with the prime minister.
According to reports, the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman telephoned Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, who is in Hong Kong on official visit, and convinced him to postpone the implementation of the FATA reforms.
According to reports, PkMAP chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai also talked to prime minister. After talks with his allies, the prime minister directed the cabinet members not press on approval of the bill and constitutional amendment till his return to the country.
Haji Shah Jee Gul Afridi told media that SAFRON Minister Abdul Qadir Baloch told him that after the Rewaj Bill and constitutional amendment would not be passed from the current session. He said that the current session would be prorogued tomorrow.
The FATA parliamentarians rejected the government’s stance.
