KP local councils’ elections on 56 vacant seats held


PESHAWAR: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday successfully conducted local councils elections to the 56 vacant seats of Nazim and Naib Nazims in Village and Neighbourhood councils of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to an official of ECP, the elections were held to elect 30 Nazims and 26 Naib Nazims in 19 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said that the districts where local council elections were held included Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, Shangla, D.I.Khan, Swat, Mansehra, Tank, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Upper Dir, Battagram,
Lower Dir, Mardan, Hangu, Abbottabad, Malakand, Haripur and Kohat.
He said that the elections were held on seats of Nazim and Naib Nazim, fallen vacant due to different reasons in different village and neighbourhood councils as per procedure laid down in the KP Local Councils (Conduct of Elections) Rules, 2014.
