KP Police beat Civil Quarters in Tri-Hockey Series


PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police stunned Civil Quarters Club in the opening match of the Tri-Matches Hockey Series which got under way here at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium on Friday. Secretary KP Hockey Association Syed Zahir Shah was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the match the players of two teams were introduced to him. President Peshawar District Hockey Association Hidayat Ullah Khan, Coach Police Hockey team Naeem, were also present.
The match was started on fast tempo and soon Police took the lead through center forward Arif Khan on the field attempt and five minute later Jamil Bostan doubled the lead through similar fashion. The two early goal lead created a panic like situation in the rank of Civil Quarters who managed their position according to the situation and it was in the 16th minute when center forward Sajjad Rashid slammed in a beautiful goal.
It was in the 22nd minute when international Naveed Iqbal slammed in another goal on the field attempt while Muhammad Saeed, the right winger, made it 3-2 by scoring a beautiful goal well before the end of the first session play. Leading 3-2 at half-time, Civil Quarters kept up pressure to get more score but they were failed to click in the last two quarters and thus KP Police dominated the proceedings by scoring three more goals when Jamil, Saleem and Fahim scored one goal each to make the tally 5-3.
Civil Quarters tried their hard in the dying moments but failed and thus Police won the match by 5-3. The aim and objective of the Tri-Matches Series is to providing due training to the KP Police team well before playing national events. Sajjad Rashid while talking to APP said that through the series the players would get ample opportunities to show their skills.– APP
