Miranshah-Razmak road reopening announced; curfew to remain in Razmak sub-division


RAZMAK: The political administration of North Waziristan Agency Wednesday announced reopening of Miranshah-Razmak road after holding talks with tribal jirga. However, the curfew would remain in the Razmak sub-division of the agency.
The tribal elders held a jirga with political agent Kamran Afridi at Jirga Hall Razmak, which reviewed the security situation after attack on the security forces. They also discussed the difficulties being faced by the people of the area due to curfew since the attack.
The tribal elders told the political agent that the tribesmen have been cooperating with the security forces and local administration in maintaining peace and security the area. However, they regretted, still the tribesmen being pressurized. They said that after Zarb-e-Azab operation, the tribesmen were not responsible for maintaining peace and security as it was the job of the security forces.
They demanded of the political administration to lift the curfew immediately as the people of the area were facing difficulties.
The political agent informed the jirga that curfew on Miranshah-Razmak road would be lifted in the first phase, adding that the curfew from the remaining area would be lifted soon. The tribal elders were not happy with the decision of the political agent and alleged that the political administration and security forces were harassing the local tribesmen without any reason.
Meanwhile, earlier tribesmen from Razmak held protest demonstration in Bannu and demanded of the government to lift the curfew from Razmak sub-division immediately.
