MQM asks govt to accepts MPs resignations

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided not to bring the matter of its lawmakers’ resignations to the table with the government and instead demanded that the resignations be accepted at once.
The decision was reached at a joint meeting of MQM Rabbitta committees London and Karachi after it reviewed the matter in depth.
A statement issued after the meeting said the government did not value the role of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman as mediator. Therefore, the Maulana needs not bother any more about making further efforts in this regard, it said.
The MQM said in its announcement that the party’s lawmakers be deemed as former MPs in all the three top parliamentary forums.
The party also regretted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s not taking out time to visit its leader Rashid Godil who suffered multiple bullet wounds after coming under an armed attack in Karachi a couple of days back.
