ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Wednesday suspended the House proceeding soon after start of the session due to absence of ministries’ officials and not getting replies of parliamentarians’ questions.
“I cannot run the House business in such an environment,” the speaker observed and suspended the proceeding for 15 minutes when he found that no one was available to represent Ministries of Defence and Human Rights during the question-answer session.
He expressed annoyance that a question related to Ministry for Defence was pending for last three sessions and even today reply had not been received.
The Speaker summoned the Minister and Secretary Defence in his chamber.
He also asked the concerned to call the Secretary Human Rights and keep her standing in the gallery and not allow her to sit.
Naveed Qamar of PPPP requested the Speaker to suspend the proceeding for 15 minutes.
The Speaker said “should I keep you and the Parliament hostage for the incompetent people who do not come to attend the House proceeding.”
Later, after 15-minute’s suspension the House proceeding resumed to advance the question-answer session. – APP
