Only Parliament could unseat me: Gilani
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Friday refused to step down after his conviction by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, saying only the Parliament could send him home, Khyber News reported.
Speaking during the National Assembly session on Friday, the convicted premier said "There is no law to remove an elected prime minister, parliament is the supreme authority and only this parliament has the authority to remove me."
He had faced calls to step down after Thursday's conviction for refusing to reopen a graft probe into President Asif Ali Zardari.
