Police arrest seven high-profile militants in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Police on Monday arrested seven high-profile militants including four commanders from a house during a search operation, Khyber News reported.


According to Khyber News correspondent police on information raided house of Alfa Khan in Hayatabad and arrested seven important militants including four commanders. Sources said a terrorist named Baitullah Mehsud a close aide of Hakimullah Mehsud faction was among the arrested militants. 


Sources further said Baitullah Mehsud was on the task to kidnap businessmen and high-level government officials in Peshawar. 

Peshawar has been under attack for the last many days. Apart from four consecutive blasts in as many days, almost eight mortar shells were fired on the city from the nearby tribal areas in the last three days. These acts of terror have revived fears among the residents in the city who had witnessed the worst time between 2008 and 2010.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akbar Khan Hoti directed all the police officers in the province to improve their intelligence network and foil acts of sabotage. He asked the public to provide immediate information to the police on the emergency numbers if they found any suspicious person or package.
