Electricity shortfalls exceeds 4200MW

LAHORE: Electricity shortfall has exceeded to 4200 Megawatts due to which several cities faced prolonged electricity load management here on Saturday.

According to Water and Power Ministry officials, the shortage of furnace oil for electricity generation was the reason behind a lag in production. The officials said that circular debt amounting to billions also qualified to the non-availability of electricity.

Owing to this power shortfall, loadshedding is being carried out for 11 hours in Lahore and other big cities while small cities and villages experienced power outages of up to 18-hours.

Currently, the power requirement for the country stood at 14,000MW.
