Opposition’s slogans mar Senate proceedings


ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties in Senate Friday staged protest against the Prime Minister as their slogans marred the proceedings making Chairman Raza Rabbani to prorogue the House.
Almost more than half an hour, the Chairman has been requesting the members to maintain order in the House but the opposition members especially from PPPP continued chanting slogans against the Prime Minister.
It was a rare incidence when even the voice of the Chairman went unheard as the members led by Opposition Leader Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan continued chanting slogans and desks beating.
After repeated requested by the Chairman when he felt that the opposition was ready to listen his requests, he read out the prorogation order.
Earlier speaking on points of order, the leaders from opposition parties PPPP and PTI said that they would continue protest against the Prime Minister and would raise the issue of disqualification at all fora.
Speaking on a Point of Order leader of the Opposition Barrister Aitzaz Ashan, Azam Khan Swati, Siraj ul Haq, Saeed Ghani and Nouman Wazir Khattak claimed that the respondents could not provide any documentary evidence to prove their innocence in the panama papers case.
Except Muttahida Qaumi Movement, the opposition leaders criticized the Prime Minister and spoke on the verdict of the apex court. The Chairman Senate later prorogued the session of the upper house of parliament, adjourning it sine die.– APP
