Some people were hiding when my mother fought against Musharraf: Maryam

LAHORE: Taking a jab at some party leaders, Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, said that her mother was on road against dictator Musharraf when some people were hiding in homes.
Without naming Chaudry Nisar, Maryam Nawaz told PML-N labour convention, “when my mother was fighting against the dictator, some people were hiding in homes.”
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in a recent interview had refused to accept Maryam as leader, saying that she was a child and she has to prove herself as leader.
“When I stepped out to campaign for the NA-120 by-elections I wanted to present Nawaz Sharif’s case before the public’s court,” Maryam said.
“But with the passage of time, I have realised that the public has not accepted the injustice meted out to Nawaz Sharif.”
While addressing the convention, Maryam said her mother Begum Kulsoom Nawaz is not contesting the NA-120 by-election as the wife of the former prime minister. But, Maryam added, Kulsoom Nawaz stood up for the party at a time when the party’s leader, Nawaz, was sent into exile.
Maryam also appreciated the party workers for their discipline, saying it is often difficult to conduct a political party’s event in an organised manner. “But today I can see discipline.”
The workers’ convention was held to campaign for the upcoming NA-120 by-election on September 17.
