KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) challenged procedure of the ongoing census across the country in Sindh High Court (SHC) praying to the court that several matters of immense significance have been concealed in the headcount process.
In his application, leader of the PPP Farhatullah Babar has said that access to information was their basic right adding that the process of census should be transparent in accordance with the constitution.
The petitioner added that Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on March 12 had written a letter to Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar regarding party’s reservations on census.
The federal government, department of statistics and others have been identified as parties in the application.
