ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Friday declared the comments of Supreme Court in the verdict of Panama Leaks’ case as historical and announced to hold a rally in Islamabad next Friday to demand Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation.
Talking to media outside the National Assembly (NA), Imran Khan questioned the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) saying that with which face the party would confront the public after the comments made in the verdict of the Supreme Court (SC).
“It has never happened in Pakistan’s history before that such comments were passed against a sitting prime minister” said Khan and added that the PML-N supporters should have read the full judgment rather than distributing sweets yesterday.
“All five judges have raised questions asked by the PTI,” he said, adding that the apex court had rejected all defense presented by the PM’s counsel.
“Resign while you are being investigated,” he urged the premier. “This is not an unusual demand.”
Imran asked if it was possible for heads of institutions like the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to investigate the prime minister while he is in power.
“If these institutions had been working, they would have stopped corruption already,” he asserted.
The PTI chief avoided an earlier meeting of opposition parties today, which was held to discuss the ramifications of the Panama case verdict.
