KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday arrested the key suspect along with his accomplices involved in blast at Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar mausoleum, during an operation in Karachi.
Sindh Inspector General (IG) Allah Dino Khawaja said that terrorist identified as Nadir Jhakarani aka Murshad belonged to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS).
He said that a report had also been presented to Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah in this regard.
Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) CTD Amir Farooqi said that the suspect was arrested in a joint search operation of CTD officials and Rangers in Manghopir area of the city.
He added that another terrorist named as Nadir Ali was also taken into custody during the operation saying that weapons and explosives were also recovered from the terrorists.
On February 17, more than 70 people were killed while several others sustained severe injuries as a suicide bomber blew himself up inside the crowded shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan Sharif. ISIS claimed the responsibility for the attack on their Aamaq news agency, saying a suicide bomber had targeted devotees at the shrine in Sindh.
