Two children die due to doctors’ negligence in KP

MARDAN: Two children died allegedly because of doctors’ negligence at hospitals in Mardan and Saidu Sharif. Relatives of the deceased children staged separate protest demonstrations against the hospitals staff and doctors.
As per details, in Kalo Lundkhwar area of Mardan, doctors at the Lundkhwar Category-D Hospital carried out circumcision of a three month old child, Essa. However, when the child was taken to home he fell unconscious due to excessive bleeding. He was immediately shifted to Mardan Medical Complex Hospital where he breathed his lost due to severe bleeding.
Later, relatives of the deceased child staged protest demonstration against the Lundkhwar Hospital staff and doctor Hamayun. The protestors blocked road for all kind of traffic. The protesters, later dispersed peacefully following assurance from MS Lundkhwar Hospital to take action against the doctors for their negligence.
Meanwhile in Saidu Sharif, Swat, a seven year old girl, Masheel, died due to alleged negligence of doctors at the orthopedic ward of Saidu Sharif Center Hospital. Father of the deceased girl said that his daughter had suffered fracture in a road accident on September 11. He said that after operation, his daughter was in severe pain, however, the hospital’s nurses refused to call a senior doctor to examine the patient. He said that due to severe pain, his daughter breathed her last in the hospital but senior doctor did not bothered to visit the ward.
Later, relatives of the deceased girl placed the dead body on road and staged protest demonstration against the hospital staff for their alleged negligence.
Speaking to Khyber News, Saidu Sharif Hospital MS Doctor Jehangir said that inquiry committee has been formed to investigate into the reason behind the death of the minor girl. He said that strict action would be taken against the accused doctor if his negligence was found.
