32782 security personnel to guard Moharram processions in KP

PESHAWAR: More than 32,782 security personnel would be deployed for security of 460 big and small mourners processions to be taken out from 266 Imambargahs in most sensitive, sensitive and normal districts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa.
Officials sources told APP on Wednesday that five districts including DI Khan, Kohat, Hangu, Tank and Peshawar have been declared highly sensitive districts and four districts including Mardan, Abbottabad, Haripur and Manshera sensitive districts.In Peshawar, 118 big and small processions would be taken out from 71 Imambaraghs where 314 majalis would be held.
In Hangu district, 28 mourning processions would be held from 28 immbargahs including 504 majalis whereas in Tank 37 processions and 510 majalis would be held.In Haripur, 37 processions would be taken out from 19 imambargahs with 90 majalis whereas 10 mourning processions would be taken out from eight Imam Bargahs including 12 processions and 205 majalis in Manshera.As many as 140 highly sensitive areas for Moharram processions have been identified in KP. More than 32782 security personnel would be deployed in sensitive and highly sensitive districts including 3118 security personnel in Hangu, DI Khan 6566, Haripur 855, Kohat 2660, Tank 1624, Abbottabad 700, Manshera 899, Mardan 942, Nowshera 956, Bannu 1032 and Lakki Marwat 601.Security personnel in plain clothes would be deployed on the routes of mourners processions in the sensitive to ward off the possibility of any mishaps.
Similarly, Peshawar would be sealed on 9th and 10th Moharram as security measures besides restricting movements of Afghan refugees to their camps.Aerial surveillance of 9th and 10th Moharram processions would be carried in Peshawar, Kohat, Hangu, DI Khan and Tank districts.– APP
