PESHAWAR: At least 60 people including women and children were injured in Peshawar as an earthquake rocked many parts of Pakistan late Friday night.
However, no loss of life transpired from the earthquake that was recorded at 6.2 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the quake was located 203 kilometer underground somewhere along the border area of Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
The tremors jolted many parts of the country including Islamabad, Kasur, Sahiwal, Hafizabad, Pindi Bhatyaan, Jalapur Bhatyaan, Swat, Abottabad, Peshawar, Mansehra, Chiniot, Shaikhupura, Bhaira, Multan, Dirbala, Ghadar, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Bagh and Rawlakot besides Gilgit-Baltistan.
The intense earthquake tremors that continued for at least 80 to 90 seconds frightened people to rush out of their homes and offices in different cities.
The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, Khyber Teaching Hospital and Hayatabad medical complex.
Some of the injured were discharged from hospital while others are still under treatment in different hospital.
