A leader is poised to ruin the country: PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that he has never seen such chaotic conditions in his life, where every institution, including the judiciary, has been divided while contempt of the institutions are going on.
Addressing a special session of the Senate, the Prime Minister said that a great man is one who admits his mistakes, and despite intense differences in the past, all Pakistani politicians used to come together in the interest of Pakistan. In 2014, when terrorism was at its peak in Pakistan, the Prime Minister had called a meeting of all politicians in the Apex Committee, and all politicians had also come together during the APS incident.
“A leader is poised to ruin the country which cannot be allowed. We will not allow it,” he said and clarified that during an attempt to arrest him, the government showed restraint just to avoid any restlessness. “But it is not possible to put the interest of the state and its 220 million people at stake,” he warned.
He the national political leadership to forge unity for addressing the pervading challenges of economic instability and poverty, without letting the situation to further deteriorate.
The prime minister said the economic stability without political stability was an unfulfillable dream.
He said by assuming the government in tough economic conditions, the coalition parties had sacrificed their politics for the sake of the state.
He told the session attended by the members well as the diplomatic corps that the staff-level agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was expected to reach soon as the country had accepted even the toughest conditions.
He said the delay in the agreement with the IMF was also due to the disorder created by the political opponents.
