Abdul Quddus Bizenjo takes oath as Chief Minister Balochistan

CM Balochistan calls for steps to protect journalists

QUETTA: Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo on Saturday took oath as the new Chief Minister of Balochistan at a ceremony held at the Governor’s House.
Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai administered the oath to the 15th chief minister of the province. Meanwhile, a 14-member provincial cabinet also took oath of their ministries.
Earlier, members of the Balochistan Assembly elected Abdul Quddus Bizenjo as new chief minister of the province.
The position fell vacant after former chief minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri resigned from the office as the opposition threatened to de-seat him through a no-trust motion.
The assembly session headed by Speaker Raheela Hameed Durrani began at 11.30 am. Durrani made the formal announcement after Bizenjo secured 41 votes and Liaquat Agha 13.
Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid candidate Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party member Agha Liaquat vied for the top office of the province.
Abdul Rahim Ziyaratwal, a PkMap candidate, withdrew his nomination from the race.
