Accountability court adjourns JJVL reference against Dr Asim

KARACHI: Accountability Court adjourned the hearing of JJVL reference case against Dr Asim till April 20 due to absence of suspect Zahid Bakhtiar after issuing directions to frame charges against him and other suspects present in money laundering reference on April 25 and repeated issuance of non-bailable warrant of three absconding suspects for April 25 after separating their case.
DR Asim and other suspects were produced in the court which heard two references against them.
In money laundering, illegal use of trust, encroachment of land and wrongful use of gas quota Amir Raza Naqvi advocate argued that chairman NAB never cites reason in any of his order over which Deputy Prosecutor NAB Amjad Ali Shah argued that this is an issue of Rs 462 million corruption and certain formalities have to be fulfilled. Anwar Mansoor Advocate objected that if the charge has to be framed today the court has to hear his objections adding that fair trial is being denied.
During the hearing Dr Asim raise objections over investigations from various agencies and also said that he is heart patient and that these people would kill him.
Expressing anger at meetings in judicial custody without court’s permission the court said it is its responsibility to control such meetings and asked Dr Asim to write complaints.
