Pakistani superstar Aima Baig has responded to fellow singer Sara Raza Khan after Sara suggested that Aima wouldn’t be successful without autotune. The comments were made during an interview on a private TV channel, where Sara stated, “If we take out the option of autotune, then Aima Baig is not a singer at all. There are many other names.”
In retaliation, Aima began resharing Instagram Stories from her supporters who posted videos of her singing, highlighting her talent. In one of her Stories, Aima wrote: “Allah nay jisko jitna talent diya [bhai] hamain kabool hai. Baaki mjy koi bata dy – yeh aunty sahiba hain kon. Actually miss krao. Mai to vacation enjoy karu LOL.” This translates to, “We accept the talent that Allah has given us. By the way, someone tell me who this aunty is. Actually never mind, I should enjoy my vacation.”
Since her debut in 2016, Aima Baig has become one of Pakistan’s most celebrated playback singers, earning numerous accolades, including the prestigious Tamgha-e-Fakhre-Imtiaz. She has collaborated with leading musicians such as Asim Azhar, Ali Zafar, Ali Sethi, and Sahir Ali Bagga. Her songs have also been featured in several hit movies, including “Lahore Se Aagay,” “Na Maloom Afraad 2,” “Teefa in Trouble,” and “Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2.”
This exchange has sparked discussions about talent, authenticity, and the use of technology in music, illustrating the competitive nature of the Pakistani music industry.
