Army Chief likely to visit Iran next week

COAS arrives at Beijing on 3 days official visit

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa is expected to visit Tehran during next week to take Iran into confidence over the Saudi led Islamic Military Alliance.
According to media reports, General Qamar Javed Bajwa during his visit to Tehran would take the Iranian government over the objectives of Saudi led Islamic Military Alliance. He will assure Iran to address its reservations over the military alliance, the reports added.
The reports further added that Pakistan has agreed to play mediator role to calm down the tehsion between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

General Bajwa will try to address Iran’s concerns regarding Pakistan’s participation in the military alliance.
Reports add that the army chief will also renew Pakistan’s offer to act as a mediator between Iran and Saudi Arabia to defuse escalating tensions between the two Islamic regional powers.
The visit also comes in the backdrop of killing of 10 Iranian guards in a militant attack close to Pakistan’s border last month.
