On January 27, Mujahid Afridi, along with his accomplice, had shot dead Asma Rani, a medical student in Kohat after she turned down his proposal of marriage.
The Interpol was approached through the Federal Investigation Agency, with the request to help find the accused so that he can face a trial in Pakistan. The Interpol had placed Mujahidullah Afridi on its most wanted list. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police had shared Afridi’s passport number and other identification details with the international police.
Rani, a third year medical student at Ayub Medical College, had named the man, nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s district leader as the one behind her murder.

Earlier in February, Supreme Court (SC) ordered PTI s Kohat president to bring back his nephew who flew abroad after Asma Rani was murdered. “If you try to influence in any way on the investigation then we will not spare you,” he said.
Alam was directed that he should bring his nephew back to the country or else the authorities can force him back by using the help of Interpol. CJP assured Alam that they would provide protective bail.
