Azam Khan takes oath as KP caretaker chief minister

Interim CM forms JIT for probe into police lines blast

PESHAWR: Caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Azam Khan has taken oath of his office on Saturday.

Governor Haji Ghulam Ali administered oath to the caretaker chief minister. The oath taking ceremony was held at the governor house. The leaders of different political parties including PPP, ANP, JUI, PML-N, provincial government officials were present at the oath taking ceremony. Opposition leader Akram Khan Durrani was also present on this occasion.

Earlier, the governor had appointed Azam Khan as interim chief minister of the province.

A day earlier, the chief minister and opposition leader unanimously agreed on the name of the caretaker chief minister in a meeting, which was also attended by Pervez Khattak.

A notification issued by the governor says that Azam Khan has been appointed as the caretaker chief minister in terms of Clause (IA) of the Article 224 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan 1973.

It stated that further necessary action may be taken for the administration of the oath to the caretaker CM by the governor.
