LAHORE: Batsman Babar Azam Tuesday rejected rumours about grouping in Pakistan cricket team.
Addressing a press conference along with opener Imamul Haq, Babar Azam said, “when start hearing rumours about grouping in the team after losing a match and such rumours started after the loss to India.”
To a question about his record of becoming the highest-scoring Pakistani at a World Cup, he said that it was to break a record of a legend such as Javed Miandad.
About captaincy, he said that the PCB to decide about the captaincy. “My work is to play cricket”.
When about the players, he said, there was no ‘railu katta’ among the 15 players, who were selected for their performance.
Imamul Haq said, “see we are in a learning process and as a cricketer, you never stop grabbing things. This World Cup was a unique experience for me and I learned a lot while playing a tough situation.”
Imam believes in his abilities and wants to remain honest with his duties. “I believe in Allah and will give my best every time. If you talk about removing chief selector so, in my opinion, it wouldn’t affect our performance anyway,” he said.
He acknowledged that the Pakistan team should have won their World Cup match against Australia and regretted that his dismissal performance in that match contributed to the Green Shirts’ loss.
“That match was very much going in our favour and I was set [on the pitch]. But then I got out and Pakistan was let down because of me,” Imam said.
