ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court Registrar’s office has responded to Faisal Vawda’s request regarding the release of communications between Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Babar Sattar regarding the green card controversy.
According to the response, holding citizenship or residency in another country doesn’t disqualify someone from being a judge, as per the constitution. The registrar’s office also clarified that no information about dual citizenship is required from lawyers when they become judges.
Justice Athar Minallah mentioned in the proceedings that the matter of Justice Babar Sattar’s green card was discussed in the Supreme Judicial Council, which then approved his appointment. However, discussions in the Judicial Commission are not recorded by the court.
Senator Faisal Vawda had requested these communications, and he also called for Justice Babar Sattar to present evidence of interference, pledging support. Additionally, he urged the Supreme Judicial Council to intervene in the matter.
