BCCI delegation visits Pakistan, meets Zaka Ashraf

LAHORE: On Monday, Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, had a meeting with the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Roger Binny, and the Vice-President, Rajeev Shukla in Lahore. During the meeting, Ashraf expressed optimism that this visit would contribute to the establishment of friendly relations between the two cricket boards.

Zaka Ashraf warmly welcomed the four-member Indian delegation, which had traveled to Pakistan on an official two-day trip in response to an invitation extended by the PCB regarding the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, hosted by Pakistan. The purpose of the visit was to attend the Asia Cup 2023 matches scheduled for September 5 and 6.

Addressing the media, BCCI President Roger Binny expressed his sentiments, saying, “It’s good to visit Pakistan after 2005.” He also mentioned their plan to attend the Afghanistan vs. Sri Lanka match the following day.

Meanwhile, Vice-President Rajeev Shukla emphasized that the delegation’s visit was a response to the invitation extended by the PCB. He underscored the long and rich history between the BCCI and PCB in the world of cricket.

Chairman Zaka Ashraf expressed gratitude to the Indian delegation for their visit and voiced his hope that this visit would mark a positive step towards improving relations between the two cricketing boards. Ashraf also expressed his aspiration that such visits might ultimately contribute to fostering friendly relations between the two countries as well.
