LAHORE: Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday has formed a full bench to hear petition against sentences awarded to ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar in Avenfield reference.
The court formed the bench after A. K. Dogar, a member of lawyers’ foundation for justice, submitted petition stating that after the 18th amendment, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was no more valid.
The petitioner requested the court that the sentences awarded to Sharif family in the Avenfield reference by accountability court should be nullified stating that the sentences were awarded under dead law.
After hearing arguments of Dogar, the court formed the bench which includes Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza, Justice Sajid Mahmood and Justice Mujahid Mustaqeem.
