Brother of former Afghan president Ashraf Ghani promises support for the Taliban

Former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s brother, Hashmat Ghani Ahmadzai, has pledged his allegiance to the Taliban, reported by Khyber News today. Hashmat Ghani Ahmadzai, chief of the Grand Council of Kuchis, introduced his assist for the group within the presence of Taliban chief Khalil-ur-Rehman and Mufti Mahmood Zakir.

Ashraf Ghani (72) had fled Afghanistan alongside along with his household after Taliban surrounded the capital metropolis of Kabul on Sunday. In a video message from the UAE, Ashraf Ghani mentioned he fled Kabul to ‘keep away from bloodshed’ whereas denying claims that he left Afghanistan with ‘automobiles full of money’.
