KARACHI: At least 11 people including three children have died in a stampede during the distribution of rations in a private company near Site Area Nursery Chorangi, on Friday.
According to initial details, women also lost their lives due to falling into the drain during the stampede, while multiple people have been reported injured. The deceased and injured individuals were shifted to Abbasi Hospital. Nine dead bodies were shifted to Abbasi Hospital while two dead bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital.
According to Edhi’s representative, during the distribution of rations, a power line fell which caused the stampede and multiple fatalities. According to eyewitnesses, multiple people also fainted during the stampede. Meanwhile, police have arrested seven people from factory for not informing the police before distribution of the ration.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice tragic incident and expressed sorrow over the death of 11 people. The chief minister sought report about the incident from commissioner Karachi. He said that the local administration and police should be informed before the distribution of the ration.
