ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday expressed his annoyance over the Capital Development Authority (CDA) when it was informed that there was no drainage system in the streets of Bani Gala nor was there any provision for earthquakes in the constructions.
A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court (SC) headed by CJP Mian Saqib Nisar resumed hearing the suo motu case against illegal constructions in the Bani Gala suburbs of the federal capital.
During the proceedings, the SC was informed that Prime Minister Imran Khan has applied for the regularization of his residence in Bani Gala.
Addressing CDA, the Chief Justice said that meting out justice was not just the duty of the courts and CDA should do something as well.
He also asked as to where was the CDA when these constructions were taking place.
The top judge told the CDA chairman that he lacked clarity and needed to conduct surveys first.
The CJP further directed the officials to regularize the 65 applications received so far, and to prepare a master plan for the rest.
Hearing of the case was then adjourned for 10 days.
