CJP arrives in Balakot to inspect developmental works

BALAKOT: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has left for Balakot to inspect developmental and rehabilitation works in the city affected by the deadly earthquake in 2005.
Upon arrival, the CJP visited Tehsil Headquarter Hospital and said that he had come to ameliorate the condition of schools and hospitals in the city.
Saqib Nisar warned that no negligence would be accepted in this regards and expressed dissatisfaction over lack of facilities in the hospital.
The CJP said he would resolve issues of the earthquake-stricken people on priority basis.
Earlier in the day, the CJP heard a case regarding the earthquake victims’ funds and reprimanded finance secretary for embezzlement of the said funds.
Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) representative also appeared in the court.
The finance secretary told the CJP that around $2.89bn came from abroad while but claimed that they did not have any details about the aid collected at home.
Justice Saqib Nisar while quoting ERRA said that funds went to the federal government.
He also feared that political appointments were made in ERRA and remarked that he would dig the issue to resolve it.
