CJP demands Punjab govt to increase salaries of public sector doctors

LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice (CJP), Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took notice of gap in salaries of doctors working at government health facilities.
During a hearing at Supreme Court’s Lahore registry on Saturday, the chief justice said that doctors called from abroad were being paid a hefty amount while the local doctors were being given a small sum.
The chief justice remarked that state-of-the-art institutes were hiring foreign doctors; however, he added that it was not the fault of doctors performing duties earnestly at government hospitals.
The CJP asked as to under what law was such a gap in salaries had been decided.
He demanded the government hospital doctors be also paid a high salary.
The chief justice also sought details of hospitals being run on funds by Recep Tayyib Erdogan Trust and said that he would continue to survey hospitals even if anyone had a problem with him doing so.
