SC to announce judgement on'Population Control' case tomorrow

KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar Saturday directed PTI MPA Imran Ali Shah, who had slapped a citizen in public, to donate Rs3 million to the Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dams Fund.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by chief justice, was hearing a suo motu notice taken against the PTI MPA over the physical assault of a citizen in Karachi.
During the hearing, the chief justice asked the MPA, “What were you thinking when you thrashed the citizen?” “No one even beats up animals like this,” he remarked. He told the MPA that he was a representative of the people.
“This is an unacceptable crime and we won’t let it go,” he asserted.
The PTI MPA apologised and said he was ’embarrassed’. However, the chief justice observed that there was no compensation for insults.
The chief justice directed the PTI MPA to donate Rs3 million to the dams fund and disposed off the case.
