CJP fines Attorney General for his absence in Article 62(1)(f) case

SC reserves verdict in Bahria Town land case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday expressed displeasure over absence of Attorney General Ashraf Ausaf in a case pertaining to interpretation of Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution.
A five-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) heard the case during which the court also fined him Rs. 10,000.
During the proceedings, Additional Attorney General Rana Waqar informed the court that Ashraf Ausaf was in Lahore due to the death of Asma Jahangir.
CJP said that all the lawyers and judges were sad over her demise but the Attorney General cannot be facilitated in this matter.
He ordered the Attorney General to appear in the court till 4pm today.
