KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah Monday linked the chairmanship of the provincial public account committee (PAC) to signing of the Charter of Democracy (CoD) by the PTI chief Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Addressing the provincial assembly session, the chief minister said that the Sindh government was ready to give the chairmanship of the provincial Public Accounts Committee to the opposition if Prime Minister Imran Khan signed the CoD.
He said that he and opposition leader failed to reach any agreement on the chairmanship of the PAC. He said that the PTI was not party to CoD, therefore, the opposition leader has no right to claim chairmanship of the PAC.
While calling on Prime Minister Khan to sign the charter, Shah offered, “Come and publicly sign [it] and say I recognise the charter of democracy signed by Benazir Bhutto, and take the PAC.”
Meanwhile talking about killing of Irshad Ranjhani, the chief minister said police officers, who witnessed the killing of Irshad Ranjhani in city’s Bhains Colony area, were also involved in the murder.
“Did the police not see Irshad Ranjhani lying in the pool of blood and dying,” asked the chief minister. He demanded the cops involved in the case should be arrested forthwith.
He had he also called for judicial inquiry into the matter within 24 hours. Ranjhani was shot five times from a point blank range, said the CM.
He said Irshad was being labeled as a dacoit from the day one and it was also being said that an FIR was registered against him. “If somebody is facing an FIR, take a gun and shoot him,” the visibly-incensed CM said.
Those who killed Ranjhani appear to have to no fear of God, he stated.
