ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Retd Air Marshal Asghar Khan.
In his message, the President prayed for the departed soul and condoled with the bereaved family.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Ababsi has also paid homage to Asghar Khan and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
He also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
Similarly, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Asghar Khan would always be remembered as an upright and principled person.
“Saddened to know about Air Chief Marshal (R) Asghar Khan’s demise. He will always be remembered as an upright and principled person. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. May Allah bless his soul with the Highest place in Jannah”, he wrote on twitter.
Another PTI leader Arif Alvi also expressed sadness over his demise and said Asghar was an icon of service to his country.
Alvi wrote, “What a great loss. Air Marshal Asghar Khan who was an icon of service to his country and torch bearer of honest politics in Pakistan. Remember with pride his fondness for me & our meetings during the last two decades. May his soul rest in peace.”
Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Maleeha Lodhi termed former air chief as a great patriot.
She said, “Saddened to hear this. RIP. A great patriot Air Marshal Asghar Khan passes away in Abottabad”.
