ISLAMABAD: Special Judge Central Azam Khan Tuesday issued non-bailable arrest warrant for the PTI leader Azam Swati in controversial tweet case.
PTI leader Azam Swati had not appeared before the court despite the court’s summons. The court had issued a bailable arrest warrant for Azam Swati in the previous hearing. Today, after the completion of arguments from both sides, the court had reserved the judgment, which has now been issued. The court had sought Azam Swati’s presence today to frame charges against him.
Previously, in the controversial tweet case, FIA prosecutor had requested the court for the arrest warrant of Azam Swati. The hearing of the controversial tweet case took place in front of the Special Judge Central Islamabad, where the proceedings related to the offense were postponed due to Azam Swati’s absence. During the hearing, Azam Swati’s lawyer, Sahil Khan, informed the court that he could not contact Azam Swati. The investigating officer informed the court that the execution of the warrant had been carried out
During the hearing, the prosecutor representing the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) requested the court to issue a non-bailable arrest warrant for Azam Swati. The investigating officer informed the court that the warrant had been executed, but Azam Swati was not present at his residence during the execution of the warrant.
