Court fixes date to hear acquittal plea of NBP president in Dar’s assets reference

ISLAMABAD: Accountability Court of Islamabad Wednesday fixed June 13, a date for hearing a plea of NBP president Saeed Amed seeking acquittal from reference against former finance minister Ishaq Dar regarding assets beyond known sources of income.
Accountability court judge, Muhammad Bashir conducted hearing of a reference against Ishaq Dar filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The three co-accused including President National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) were also present during hearing.
During hearing, the defense counsel continued his cross-examining with prosecution witness Muhammad Azeem, who presented the bank transaction record of Ishaq Dar before the court.
The witness provided record of 21 bank transactions that include eight electronic transactions as well.
Meanwhile, on the request of Saeed Ahmed’s counsel, the court allowed him to leave the proceeding due to illness.
The court fixed June 13, to hear the plea of Saeed Ahmed seeking acquittal from the reference.
It may be mentioned here that the court imposed fine Rs 2,000 against junior counsel Muazzam Habib due to ringing of his cell phone in court room. – APP
