KARACHI: A local court has granted bail to Sar-e-Aam team member Kamran Umar Farooqui a few days after he was arrested during a sting operation in Sindh Assembly.
The court also ordered Farooqui to submit surety bond of Rs. 30,000.
Iqrarul Hassan and his team member Kamran Umar Farooqui were nabbed during a sting operation by entering Sindh Assembly, carrying a firearm. The operation was meant to expose poor security mechanism at the assembly.
Farooqui unveiled the firearm and showed it to Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani to expose the security lapse, thus stirring up a debate regarding security of the house.
The Speaker ruled that no one including journalists would be allowed to enter the premises of the provincial assembly without undergoing security checks after which Iqrar and his team member were arrested and given in the custody of Arambagh police.
Iqrar was released by the court on Saturday.
