PESHAWAR: The death toll from the suicide bombing in masjid of the Police Lines Peshawar soared to 83, after rescuers retrieved 15 more bodies from the rubble, police and rescue 1122 official said.
According to rescue 1122, they were still removing the rubble after the mosque’s roof caved following the attack.
According to police, at least 60 injured are being treated in hospitals, 57 of them were admitted in Lady Reading Hospital while 3 injured in Hayatabad Medical Complex.
The deadly explosion took place at a time when worshippers had gathered in the mosque for the afternoon prayers. Witnesses and officials said that at least 200 people were inside the mosque at the time of blast.
The banned outlet TTP has claimed responsibility for the attack in a post on Twitter.
