Delay in voting on no-trust motion against Senate chairman to be violation of constitution: Bizenjo

ISLAMABAD: The opposition Friday reiterated that the Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani would be ousted through no confidence motion, saying that any delay in voting on no-trust motion would be violation of the constitution.
Talking to newsmen outside parliament house, the opposition candidate for chairman Senate Hasil Bizenjo said that the change was ‘inevitable’. He said that the opposition has majority in the Senate, adding that the Monday meeting of the opposition parties would be attended by over 60 senators. PPP leader Sherry Rehman and other opposition senators were also present on this occasion.
He said , “Constitution allows for a no-confidence motion to be brought against the Senate chairman. And if the motion is accepted through a majority, the chairman has to step down”..
He said that the Senate should be called immediately for voting on no-confidence motion of the opposition.
Citing yesterday’s attendance, the opposition leaders today described it as an informal vote on the motion of no-confidence and described it as ‘proof’ that their motion would sail through Senate if put to the vote.
