Deputy collector custom dies after smugglers' attack in Quetta

QUETTA: Dr Abdul Qudoos Shaikh, a deputy collector customs, who was attacked by smugglers past week passed away on Tuesday morning during his medical treatment.
The deputy collector customs was admitted to SMH in a critical state of health where he breathed his last today.
Four days ago, Dr Abdul Qudoos came under attack during a crackdown against drug and smuggling mafia in Quetta’s Gahi Khan Chowk.
Shaikh and his team intercepted and escorted a truck loaded with smuggled items of tiles which he found near Kolpur, Balochistan.
Upon reaching Gahi Khan Chowk, the smugglers rammed their vehicle into the official vehicle of the customs officer. He was then pulled out of his car and forcibly assaulted with submachine gun’s butt.
On the other hand, sources have stated that the smugglers who subjected Dr Qudoos to cruelty were apprehended on Tuesday by police from Satellite Town of Quetta.
They were arrested with two of their accomplices. According to police, the arrested smugglers identified as Sadiq, Toofan and Ahmed Shah.
