Kohat police arrest six facilitators of extortionists, recover arms

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The district police arrested 39 proclaimed offenders with seizing a large amount of arms and ammunition during various operations against criminals in the district during the last month.
During these operations conducted on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO), Raja Abdul Saboor Khan, the police arrested dozens of accused and the proclaimed offenders with drugs and different types of illegal arms including 2378 cartridges over 40 kilgoram hashish, over 860 gram heroin, 590 gram opium and 11 bottles of wine in June.
The police also conducted snap checking at various places and rounded up several accused during the same period and recovered illegal arms of different types.
Besides checking documents of rented houses and security arrangements at sensitive places, the police also reviewed security arrangements of educational institutions and took actions under relevant rules.
The district police had also devised comprehensive security plan to celebrate Eid-ul-fitr with religious zeal and enthusiasm in a peaceful atmosphere and areas of Cantt police station, Saddar police station, city police station, Gomal police station and Dera town police station had been divided into two sectors.
During the last month, the security plan for Eidul Fitr outlined security cover to prayer-goers during eid-ul-fitr prayers at worshiping places, across the district while patrol party kept patrolling avenues and roads to keep eye on suspected people to avert any possible threat for maintaining peace during this religious festival.
During the same period, several challans were issued for violating traffic rules and enhanced number of traffic wardens was deployed in main city areas in order to avoid traffic mess especially on Chaand Raat and Eid prayers.
The DPO has also appreciated bravery of police force and added it was committed to protecting lives and property of citizens.
He urged the police to keep close liaison with the citizen whose property and life would be protected at all costs and no negligence would be tolerated on this front.
He said no one would be allowed to take law into his own hands, adding strict action would be taken against those who were found involved in criminal activities.
He also appealed people to cooperate with police to promote brotherhood, tolerance and religious harmony for ensuring durable peace in the district which had witnessed subversive acts in past.
