Dollar crosses Rs300 in interbank market

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee continues to face unprecedented downward pressure against the US dollar, with its value further depreciating on Thursday.

At the beginning of the trading session on Thursday, the US dollar surpassed all previous records, surpassing the Rs300 mark in the interbank market for the first time in history.

The US currency experienced an additional increase of 58 paisas, reaching the historic milestone of Rs300.22 in the interbank market.

In the open market, the US dollar had already crossed the Rs314.

Within a span of just two weeks, the US dollar has gained a significant value of Rs13 in the interbank market. In the open market, during the short tenure of the caretaker government, the currency has seen an increase of Rs18 over the same two-week period.

Furthermore, in the open market, the value of the US dollar has risen by an additional Rs3, reaching the price of Rs315.
