ISLAMABAD— An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 on the Richter scale struck parts of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Tremors were felt in Islamabad, Multan, Bhakkar, Phalia, Peshawar, Malakand, Swat, Mianwali, Pakpattan, and Buner, among other places.
The PMD said the earthquake occurred at 1:54am, 44 kilometres southwest of Khōst in Afghanistan at a depth of 50.8km.

This is the second earthquake reported in the provinces in a week. On June 17, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake shook Rawalpindi, Murree, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Diamer, Faisalabad, Multan, Mansehra, Balakot and Chilas.
