ECP directs AAT candidates on UN watch list to submit CNIC, passport copies

Parliamentary committee meeting on Dec 9 to finalize ECP appointments

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tuesday adjourned the hearing regarding Allahu Akbar Tehreek (AAT)’s candidates name on UN watch list till August 29and directed them to submit copies of their computerised national identity cards (CNICs) and passports.
According to reports, MML-backed three candidates of regarding Allahu Akbar Tehreek (AAT) names are on the UN watch list.
The ECP had issued notices to Mohammad Ashraf, NA-149 Sahiwal; Zafar Iqbal, PP-113 Faisalabad; and Ehsan Ranjha, PP-67 Mandi Bahauddin, who appeared before a three-member ECP bench today.
No representative from the interior ministry appeared before the bench.
The lawyer for the candidates while arguing before the commission said that it was unfair to summon them one day before the polls.
The ECP directed them to submit the copies of their CNICs and passports along with a written reply to the ECP and adjourned the hearing till August 29.
