ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday has disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) female councilor Uzma Bashir for trampling of party’s rules during local bodies election.
According to details, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza presided a meeting in Islamabad.
During the meeting, PTI officials put forward their case, stating that councilor from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Uzma Bashir cast vote in the favor of other candidate instead of party’s own for chairmanship post in recent LB polls which is illicit and against the policy.
The officials demanded to annul the membership of female councilor and to take action against her.
Subsequently, ECP invalidated Uzma Bashir’s membership.
On the other hand, Shafqat Mahmood, the PTI Organizer in Lahore, on Sunday also resigned from his position over worst defeat in first phase of LB polls in the city.
In a message posted on social media website, he said the party s performance in the LB polls was worse than expected.
