ECP rejects Farooq Sattar’s objections, removes him as party’s convener

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (SCP) has on Monday announced its verdict on the convenership’s issue of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).
A five-member bench of the ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Retd Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan announced the verdict.
The bench rejected objections of MQM-P’s leader Dr. Farooq Sattar regarding the jurisdiction of the Commission to hear the matter.
In its verdict, the Commission announced that Farooq Sattar would no longer serve as convener of MQM-P.
Farooq Sattar had said that the Commission had no jurisdiction to hear intra-party conflict.
Khalid Maqbool and Kanwar Naveed of MQM-P had moved the Commission for removing Farooq Sattar as party convener.
